Amy Goodman and the Domestic Goddess Herself, Roseanne Barr, Getting Giddy and Going Nuts

Fans of Roseanne Barr celebrate her return to Television, Los Angeles, and hopefully radio, where she and her partner, Johnny Argent, had a phenomenal show on Pacifica Radio’s KPFK, in Los Angeles. The Domestic Goddess recently talked to Democracy Now!‘s Amy Goodman about John Goodman, George Clooney and other projects past and present, and where it all began.  As Ms. Barr graces the screen once again, will she grace the airwaves?

Roseanne Barr has uprooted her life from one medical marijuana state to another, where her 40-acre macadamia farm in Hawai’i is the stage of her new Reality TV show, Roseanne’s Nuts.

Her new home, show, and lifestyle, that which she shares with her longtime partner, writer/musician Johnny Argent, fills a much-missed moment Middle America had once a week while the Emmy-award winning actress played Roseanne Conner in Roseanne.

But Roseanne seemed more real to many americans than Reality TV, even with someone as real as Roseanne Barr, and FOX Television agrees.

Her ability to structure her comedy to reveal a truth found huge success in the 80’s and Entertainment Weekly reports that Roseanne will return to primetime once again in Downwardly Mobile, a new sitcom she will write and star in for FOX.

Those who followed her while she was on KPFK Radio were eager to pick up her book, “Roseannearchy: Dispatches from the Nut Farm”, which encompasses much of the comic spirit comedic literature reflects.

Roseanne’s reoccurring role on KPFK was far-reaching, but short lived. Her show, The Tipping Point with Roseanne Bar, was as wildly popular as the star herself, and as she and Johnny Argent were making arrangements for their farm ion Hawai’i, Tipping Point producer Christine Blosdale was busy putting the Domestic Goddess in her place, like Go Harrison’s 4/20 Special, Roseanne and Johnny, and The Top 25 Most Censored Stories programing, to name a few.

For those who didn’t take advantage of the ‘Listen Live’ feature on KPFK’s website, some show archives are available where you can hear Roseanne interview Dennis Kucinich, Ed Asner, Jesse Ventura, Cindy Sheehan, Brad Friedman, Sibel Edmonds, among others.

With subject matters from marijuana and healthcare, to censored stories (where ProjectCBD.org‘s Martin Lee, author of Acid Dreams, lends his time on the judging committee for Project Censored), fluoridated water, and covert CIA operations, Roseanne was able to carry her voice to an audience that embraced many of the ideas that make people like Roseanne a little nuts, or at least move to the nut farm.

For the two-plus years of Pacifica programming featuring Roseanne Barr, and her short stay on her farm in Maui, her return to Los Angeles, and to television, will hopefully find a beneficiary in radio, and the Domestic Goddess will hopefully find KPFK her nut farm away from nut farm.

If her recent appearance on Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now! wasn’t enough to convince her, nothing will.  For some reason I have a funny feeling Ms. Barr didn’t get enough of KPFK’s sister station, WBAI in New York, but then again, I’m a little nuts myself!
