As long as politicians maintain their “holier-than-thou” (on many levels) and their “smarter than scientists” attitudes; difficulties and roadblocks to medicine will remain.
When it finally hits home for a politician, then there might be hope of access to medicine without fear of prosecution.

I have CMT (chronic pain & neuropathy) and have written my politicians here in Indiana and their collective response has been “tough stuff – suffer” because they don’t want to lose the “moral high ground” (to quote Dick Lugar). Sadly, as far as I can discern from Youtube, this was the same attitude of Mitt Romney.
