Maria Mills Greenfield and her son support Joey's Mom and The Unconventional Foundation for Autism

By Maria Mills Greenfield

This is a list of the current medications my son takes to simply keep his aggression and agitation somewhat under control. I have only listed the most COMMON side effects of these pharmaceuticals.

7 people a DAY die in FLORIDA ALONE from the prescription drug oxycontin. 1,000 people a year die in Florida as a direct result of alcohol. You can die from water overdose and sun exposure, but….

No one has EVER died as a direct result of marijuana intoxication. It is literally impossible, according to hundreds of studies. It has been found to be therapeutic in MANY instances, and I feel the substance is MUCH safer than Big Pharma wants you to believe; after all, what do THEY stand to gain if you could receive from a pot brownie the positive effects of even ONE of these drugs, thus eliminating the need for purchasing their PILLS that also cause:

Resperidone:
Common:
Anxiety; constipation; cough; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; fatigue; headache; increased appetite; increased saliva production; lightheadedness; nausea; restlessness; runny nose; stomach pain or upset; trouble sleeping; vomiting;                                                                        weight gain.

Benztropine:
Common:
Blurred vision; constipation; depression; dilated pupils; disorientation; dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; fast heartbeat; hallucinations; headache; heat stroke; impaired memory; increased sensitivity of eyes to light; lack of drive; lightheadedness; loss of appetite; nausea; nervousness; numbness of fingers; sleeplessness; stomach upset; trembling of hands; urinary retention; weak or stiff muscles.

Fluoxitine
Common:
Anxiety; decreased sexual desire or ability; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; flu-like symptoms (eg, fever, chills, muscle aches); increased sweating; loss of appetite; nausea; nervousness; runny nose; sore throat; stomach upset; trouble sleeping; weakness.

Vyvanse:
Common:
Constipation; decreased appetite; diarrhea; dizziness; dry mouth; headache; increased sweating; mild irritability, nervousness, or restlessness; nausea; trouble sleeping; unpleasant taste; upper stomach pain; vomiting; weight loss.

Clonazepam:
Common:
Clumsiness or unsteadiness; constipation; cough; dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; headache; increased saliva production; lightheadedness; loss of appetite; muscle aches; nervousness; runny nose; tiredness.

My son cannot speak for himself. If HE had a voice I KNOW which choice he would make. I AM his voice! I will NEVER break the law, so I may NEVER even KNOW if MMJ could help my son, but until I breathe my last breath, I will fight to help him try any therapy that MAY help him live a more fulfilled life.

I feel like every day I have to continue giving Jr all these pharmaceuticals is another day of just getting by....I am advocating for medical marijuana legalization to try to curb some of his need for all the pills. I believe, from scientific research and case studies that medical marijuana would significantly improve his quality of life and his health. We MUST legalize!!! My son's life depends on it. Which do you think he would choose if he HAD a voice? I AM his voice.
