Master spoofers The Yes Men have created a media storm when main stream media picks up on spoofs but reporting them as truth.

There was a Yes Men style spoof email circulating back in 2001 mentioning the use of aloe vera to become a criminal activity, highlighting the absurdity of prohibiting a natural plant.

That was ten years ago, and had several key lines that lead the reader to realized the hoax, however, it has begun to resurface, causing a firestorm of fury from folks who get their news in a sound-byte and don’t remember what it was like to have a world less connected to truth, and lies.

Now, when people get their ‘news’ it’s generally on a corporate controlled channel that would be breaking the law if the interests of their shareholders were not at the forefront of their decision-making process, even when it collides with the tenants of journalism and the role the media plays in a free and democratic society.
