    • Module 1: Introduction

Mental health disorders are one of the leading causes of disability in the world – 1 in 4 people will experience at least one mental health disorder in their lifetime 1. Below are some global statistics to get a sense of the prevalence of this issue:

      • Over 300 million people suffer from major depressive disorders – one-third are resistant to treatment
      • About 35 million people struggle with substance use disorders
      • 6-9% of the population suffers from PTSD
      • Of the 40 million people requiring palliative care each year, 29-50% will suffer from death-related anxiety and depression
      • Approximately 16 million people suffer from eating disorders8, and prevalence rates are spiking, rising from 3.5%to 7.8% between 2000 and 2018
Module 2: The Role of Music in Mediating Therapeutic Outcomes in Psychedelic Therapy

In psychedelic research, there is a general consensus amongst independent research groups that the effectiveness of clinical trials using psychedelics such as psilocybin is mediated by the occurrence of personally meaningful experiences during the session, including “peak-experiences” and “autobiographical insight”.
Music is a key component to all psychedelic therapies and plays an essential role in successful therapeutic outcomes. Psychedelics and music are thought to work synergistically: psychedelics enhance the subjective experience of music
significantly, and music is shown to play a key role in facilitating these personally meaningful experiences.

Module 3: The Historical Landscape of Psychedelics

In this module you will learn:

      • The ancient history of psychedelic use
      • The pre-prohibition history of psychedelics (pre-1970s)
      • The prohibition era
      • The post-prohibition period of psychedelic research
      • Introduction to the psychedelic renaissance
Module 4: An Overview of Psychedelic Substances

In this module you will learn:

      • The definition of psychedelics and types used in psychedelic-assisted therapy
      • The effects of different psychedelics on the brain
      • A structured breakdown of prominent psychedelic substances, including: LSD, psilocybin, mescaline, ayahuasca/DMT, MDMA, ketamine, and ibogaine
      • The safety profile of psychedelics, including harm scores and addictive potential
      • The legal landscape of psychedelics
Module 9: Psychedelic Medicine for the Treatment of End of Life Distress in Palliative Care

This module will briefly review how psychedelic-assisted therapy works and some main factors in the therapeutic process. Although various approaches can be found in underground settings, we will mainly focus on the process used in the clinical trials we’ll be describing in our upcoming modules.

The written content of the course was well organized and easy to follow. I was left with the feeling that I wanted to learn more.
The primary issue with the course is with the references. It isn’t possible to return to the course after each reference. This is cumbersome and time consuming. I enjoy both the written articles and the videos but would like ease of navigation so I can access as many references as I wish. Hope these references will remain available to me for some time, as it was impossible to get through all of them in a timely manner. Thank you for all your good work and for access to this information.

I especially appreciated that you put the basic instructions for opening the references. I rarely use ‘command click’, so that was extremely helpful.

This course is beautifully presented, carefully researched, and thorough. I am deeply grateful for its broad scope and easy access to sources. I hope it will awaken the psychiatric community to the vast therapeutic potentials of these “magical, mystical” molecules, which may be curative rather than merely therapeutic, in the hands of trained and experienced practitioners
