How do I know if I need to complete my annual Continuing Education (CE) 10 hour course?
It is recommended that each person contact the department’s customer service at 360-236-4700 or by email at hsqa.csc@doh.wa.gov to see if their credential is marked for CE requirement.
If they have their contact information current with the Department of Health, they should receive a courtesy renewal notice a couple of months prior to expiration that indicates whether or not CE is required for renewal.

Can a medical patient from another legal state purchase medical marijuana in Washington?
Washington state does not have reciprocity for patients. Only Washington residents can be entered into the database and receive a recognition card. Visitors can purchase recreationally and are limited to recreational amounts – chapter 69.51A RCW.
What else do I need to submit to Washington State to apply for my Medical Cannabis Consultant Certification?
To help expedite the application process to get your certificate from the Washington Department of Health, or DOH, after completing your training program, please remember the following.
Medical marijuana certification applications submitted to the DOH must have:
- Proof of age (see the website for documents that are allowed)
- Proof of CPR Certification (send a copy of your certificate)
- Proof of completing a DOH Approved Consultant Training Program (send a copy of your certificate of completion)
- If applicants need to submit additional materials, they can email documents to hsqa.csc@doh.wa.gov

There were several punctuation, spelling, and grammatical errors throughout the course, as well as several slides contradicting each other, and a few that were unnecessarily repetitive. The science parts were fairly lacking and clearly cut-and-paste directly from several sources with missing gaps in helping readers understand the more advanced parts of the ECS. At other times, the science was shoddily summarized by someone who appears to have a high school level education in biology at best. Also, the question about how much cannabis a recreational user can purchases has an incorrect answer. The only options provided said 28g of flower, OR 7g of concentrate OR 72ounces of edible cannabis. In actuality, adult rec users can purchase all 3 allotments at once, they do not have to choose (as your answer to the question inferred). There were several other questions with incorrect (or not entirely correct) answers but that was the main that that stood out to me.
All that said, it was much improved since the last time I took it, so bravo on the improvements that you were able to make in the last few years!

Quiz questions are based on memorization rather than critical thinking and application of the learned material. Weak quizzes like these do not promote memory nor do they properly evaluate the quiz-takers understanding of the material. While there are many important concepts in this course that certainly bear repeating, there were large portions of the reading that end up feeling redundant and frustrating to see repeated (usually whole paragraphs at a time).

Course clearly communicated objectives/concepts, generated decent enthusiasm in the subject, was well organized in content, and the delivery was conductive to learning. But, some of the bigger sections could be broken up for the sake of keeping attention and enthusiasm (looking at the legal chapters – 2a or 2b, maybe they should be 2a-2m). Also, while this course was conveniently online, 20 hours guys!? Really? Does it really take that many concentrated days to learn this stuff? This may be impossible due to legal mumjo jumbo, but is it possible to have a “Speed Course” for those of use who already know quite a bit about it? Anyway, thank you for your program and for the education that you have provided. You are appreciated.

Content: largely redundant materials for the average student who is already a budtender. PDFs and multi-choice quizzes are mostly uninteresting and not engaging. Especially for a course with no time limit, why not take advantage of essay questions, lecture-style dialogues, and more insightful third-party links? A noticeable portion of this content was just repackaged (or copy/pasted) from the LCB website.
Medical: This 411 course is too broad and needs more content based on real experiences and scenarios. Did you collaborate with any actual retailers in creating this curriculum? More work needs to be done to prepare students for the real challenges and nuance of best serving medical patients in a state-regulated retail environment.
Positive: the presence of more factual information and less propaganda than in the WA MAST permit courses.
Technical: the redesigned site is better than where it started, but please ask your webmaster to rewrite code so the entire page doesn’t reload from the top when you “x” out of one of these dialog/pdf/quiz windows.
