Ester

Definition: A sweet-smelling chemical compound naturally occurring in cannabis formed when an alcohol bonds with a carboxylic acid. Commonly used as fragrances, found in essential oils and pheromones. Esters do not bind to receptors in the ECS and are considered inactive, but have been shown to increase the functionality of cannabinoid receptors and add to or change the profile of terpenes.
