Medical Marijuana Program (MMP)

Definition: An official jurisdictional resource for the use of cannabis for medical purposes, National Conference of State Legislatures, 2017, despite no FDA testing for safety and efficacy. Includes medical cannabis or medical marijuana state-issued identification cards. These enable patients with doctor recommendation to obtain, possess or cultivate cannabis for medicinal use in states where medical cannabis is recognized. Typically a patient pays a state fee to obtain a medical marijuana card, sometimes alternatively called a medical marijuana identification (MMID) or medical marijuana (MMJ) card.
