Trichome

Definition: Tiny, hair-like appendages on cannabis flower, leaves and stems that produce and store terpenoids (terpenes), flavonoids, and other phytochemicals. Both glandular and non-glandular, trichomes deter pests, predators, reduce environmental stress for the plant and help maintain optimal surface-level humidity.
