About Zach Walsh

Zach Walsh, PhD, R Psych is an Associate Professor of Psychology at UBC, Director of the Therapeutic, Recreational, and Problematic Substance Use lab, and a registered clinical psychologist. Zach has published more than 40 articles and book chapters on topics related to substance use, personality, and mental health, and his work has been supported by grants and awards from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Health Canada, BC Interior Health, the American Psychological Association, and others. He is the principal investigator for several externally funded research projects including the largest survey to date of Canadian medical cannabis patients, and a recently initiated clinical trial of cannabis for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He has presented research on the therapeutic use of cannabis to diverse audiences, including the Government of Uruguay’s Department of Health, the Canadian House of Commons, and the International Cannabinoid Research Society.
