DEA Spokesperson Clears Smoke, Special Agent Sherman Only Stating Position, Not Science

After erroneous claims made by a San Diego DEA Agent, the spokesperson for Mr. Sherman clarified he “is not a doctor and was not stating science, just stating the position of the DEA.”

A spokesperson for Sherman confirmed the agent is not a doctor and cannot verify the claims he’s made as a statement of face, rather a position.

William R. Sherman, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) San Diego Field Division has declared an outright war on medical marijuana patients.

(Yes, the same “special” agent that was in charge when a college student was left in a holding cell unattended for five days and nearly died.)

Without any regard for State law or local regulations, Sherman has commandeered local law enforcement to enforce federal law and has executed hundreds of raids on medical marijuana patients.

Through these raids, the DEA has stolen millions of dollars in cash and medicine from patients in San Diego.

Most recently Sherman appeared on NBC television in San Diego and claimed smoked cannabis has no medical value and declared war on the remaining safe access that does exist in the county.

Doctors, scientists, lawyers, patients, and concerned citizens are outraged at Sherman’s flagrant disregard of State law and complete ignorance of the scientific research conducted right here in San Diego at UCSD’s Center for Medicinal Research.

Over the years, more than 6,500 reports and journal articles from around the world support the medical value of cannabis. In addition, dozens of public health organizations have endorsed medical use of marijuana including the National Association of People Living With AIDS, AIDS Action Council, the American Public Health Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Nurses Association, the Federation of American Scientists, Kaiser Permanente, the New England Journal of Medicine, the National Association for Public Health Policy, the California Medical Association, the Whitman- Walker Clinic, the Lymphoma Foundation of America, and many more.Sherman must stop misleading the public about the medical value of smoked cannabis and put an end to his vindictive war on medical marijuana patients in San Diego.

If you recall last year, Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO) grilled DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart, which reveals just how close to the tree the apple falls.
