Researchers at the University of Heidelberg say they have discovered an interesting connection between smoking long-distance runners and pot smokers.
A new study suggests active runners may share something in common with pot smokers. Here’s correspondent Scott Carr. – In the 80s scientists found that endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller were produced after prolonged exercise, but some researchers at Germany’s University of Heidelberg say people made the incorrect assumption that endorphins also produce the same kind of euphoria that runners get, the so-called runner’s high. They say that research on mice showed the euphoria experienced after physical exercise is most likely caused by endocannabinoids,
the same natural compounds released by the brain, when people smoke marijuana.
