Jon B. Gettman Receives ASA Spirit Award from ASA. Mr. Gettman filed a petition in 1995 to remove cannabis from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act that was eventually denied. He has a PhD in public policy and regional economic development from George Mason University and is a longtime contributor to High Times magazine. Gettman frequently publishes on the marijuana industry and teaches public administration at Shepherd University in West Virginia.
